
Monclova Township was established in 1853 after Wayne Township was split into Monclova and Springfield. Its name is believed to have come from a Native American word that means "one of a clan."
Monclova is part of the Anthony Wayne School District which is ranked #23 on Niche's list of best Ohio school districts for 2022. The township has some of the highest property values in Northwest Ohio with an average sales price of $398,000 as of November 2021.

wabash cannonball trail
This 66 mile trail system consists of two converted railways that meet in Maumee just outside of Monclova. The North Fork terminus is on Jerome Road and extends through Monclova ending within 15 miles of the Indiana state line. The South Fork runs from Maumee and ends just outside of Liberty Center. The trail can be used by bikers, hikers, equestrians, and cross-country skiers.
cannonball prairie metropark
This metropark offers nearly 100 acres with a connection to the Wabash Cannonball Trail. The park has a pond for boating, walking paths, and three secluded campsites. The Cannonball Prairie Pond is stocked and aerated and will allow for fishing in the future.
brandywine country club
Brandywine CC is a semi-private course that is open to the public with members receiving first priority for tee times. The club's restaurant, The Garden, is open to the public with dining hours from 11:00 AM-9:00 PM Tuesday through Friday, 4:00-10:00 PM on Saturday, and Sunday brunch from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. The bar is also open on Saturdays at 11:00 AM. Swim & Fitness Members have access to the fitness facility, sauna, junior Olympic-sized pool, and a full calendar of social events.

Fallen Timbers is a public 18-hole golf course that also has simulators with over 80 prestigious courses to choose from. The golf course also has sand volleyball and Outlaw Smokehouse BBQ is coming in 2022.

This open-air mall has a diverse offering of retailers, restaurants, specialty shops, and a movie theater. Fallen Timbers also has a feature lake and boardwalk area.

monclova park
This park is located on Monclova Road across from St. Luke's Hospital. It has playground equipment, a shelter house with electricity, picnic tables, and a practice ball field.
monclova community park & keener park
These township parks are both located on Albon Road and offer shelter houses that fit 64 people, ball fields, and soccer fields.
Monclova is also in close proximity to Side Cut Metropark, Swan Creek, and Louis W. Campbell State Nature Preserve.
